PRODUCT CARE
Neil Vernon believes in treating clothes as a long term investment. Proper care of your NV pieces reduces the
net output of your wardrobe on the environment and extends your garments life cycle. We know that all garments require personalised care, so, if you purchase a NV piece that requires some extra attention we will send you a personalised email after purchase with specific care instructions. For all other pieces, follow the care guide set out below, on your tags, or, simply contact us. We're always here.
OUR MATERIALS
DO:
- Always refer to care label.
- Wash in cold water (<30C) either by using a washing machine or washing by hand.
- Wash with similar colours to prevent dye bleeding.
- Most cotton blends should be able to survive a low setting-drying cycle shrink free but it is always recommended to air dry.
- Use a medium hot iron and always iron on the wrong side of cotton fabric.
DON'T:
- Do not use hot water (>30C) whether by washing by machine or by hand.
- Never use high heat in the dryer or use very hot irons to remove wrinkles.
- Avoid storing cotton items in attics and basements where temperatures and humidity fluctuate
DO:
- Always refer to care label.
- Use cold water for washing the spandex fabrics. Hot or warm water can reduce the elasticity of the fabric.
- Always try to hand-wash spandex garments. If using a washing machine, choose a gentle cycle on a cold wash and place the item in a mesh laundry bag.
- Air dry on a clothesline where possible. This will retain it's shape and help preserve elasticity over time.
DON'T:
- Do not wash with natural fabrics e.g. cotton, linen. This can cause pilling by attaching itself onto your smooth spandex clothing.
- Don't use harsh detergents or fabric softeners.
- Do not iron with high heat. Elastic fibers melt or distort in high heat. Use a low-medium heat and avoid staying in the one spot for too long
DO:
- Regularly clean leather with a soft brush or cloth.
- Air out your leather bag or purse at least once a month.
- If you need to dry your leather, only air-dry it inside. Exposure to direct sunlight can fade the leather.
- To remove any dirt or marks, use a small cloth and leather soap to spot clean. Mild detergent can be used.
DON'T:
- Avoid machine washing leather.
- Avoid speed drying your leather e.g. using a hair dryer or tumble dryer. This can affect it's look and overall quality.
- Do not iron leather.
- Do not immerse leather in water to clean.
DO:
- Avoid washing your denim pieces unless necessary, denim does not require regular washing
- When washing, handwash your garments using cold water. High temperatures in machine washes can cause the fabric to shrink
- Air dry your denim garments by hanging them vertically. This avoids creases and sun spots
- Turn your denim pieces inside out when washing to avoid snags and pulls.
DON'T:
- Never wash light and dark denim together.
- Don't tumble dry, this could shrink and damage fibers.
